Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do you provide 3D projects before ordering?
Yes — we can prepare a basic 3D project of your chosen configuration (without renderings).
This service is provided free of charge for standard and custom projects as part of our design support.
How do you ship fragile glass lighting?
All our lighting fixtures are carefully hand-packed using protective materials.
We have extensive experience shipping fragile glass internationally, and damage during transit is very rare.
If damage occurs, we will replace the affected parts immediately at no extra cost to the customer — no complicated claims process required.
Can I order replacement parts or additional units later?
Yes — you can order additional glass shades after delivery. Please contact us with your order number so we can ensure consistency with your original piece.
What light bulbs do you use?
We use vintage-style LED Edison bulbs or similar decorative LED bulbs with a warm light temperature of 2700K or lower.
These bulbs provide a soft, warm ambience and are available in different shapes and filament styles.
We recommend using LED bulbs only, as they produce significantly less heat and are more suitable for hand-blown glass.
Are the lamps dimmable?
Yes — our lamps are generally dimmable, but dimming depends on the bulb used.
If you use dimmable LED bulbs together with a compatible dimmer switch, the fixture will be dimmable.
Are your lamps smart home compatible?
Yes — in most cases, our lamps are compatible with smart home systems.
Compatibility depends on the bulb rather than the fixture itself. If you use smart dimmable bulbs (such as Philips Hue or similar), the fixture can be fully integrated into smart home systems.
What is the recommended installation height?
We recommend the following installation heights:
-
Over dining tables: 70–80 cm above the table surface
-
Over kitchen islands: 80–90 cm above the surface
-
Over staircases / voids: approximately 240 cm above floor level (depending on ceiling height and layout)
These are general guidelines and may be adjusted depending on the interior design concept.
Can I customise my order?
Yes — we specialise in custom-made lighting.
We can customise:
-
ceiling canopy size and shape
-
number of light sources
-
cable lengths
-
glass colours and compositions
We also regularly design long chandelier installations for staircases, double-height spaces, and elongated fixtures over dining tables or kitchen islands.
If you have a specific idea or project, we will be happy to assist.
How long does production take?
Our products are made to order.
The typical production time is up to 6 weeks from the moment the order is confirmed and payment is received.
As each piece is handmade, slight variations in lead time may occur during busy production periods.
What type of sockets do you use?
For EU orders, we typically use high-quality E27 sockets.
For US and Canada projects, we use E26 sockets and UL-listed components where required, including UL-listed WAGO connectors.
We have completed numerous installations across North America.
What happens if my lamp arrives damaged?
If your lamp arrives damaged, please contact us immediately at hello@studio-tenke.com and provide photos of the damage and packaging.
We will arrange a replacement as quickly as possible, without waiting for the carrier claim process to be completed.
How are the lamps shipped?
We ship worldwide:
-
Within Europe: DPD
-
Outside the EU: FedEx, UPS, or similar international courier services
All shipments are carefully packed to ensure maximum protection of the glass components.
What is the weight of the fixtures?
Because our products are handmade from blown glass, weight may vary slightly between pieces.
As a general reference, a configuration with three glass pieces on a 30 cm ceiling plate weighs approximately 7–8 kg.
We strongly recommend ensuring that the ceiling structure is suitable for the weight of the fixture and that installation is carried out by a qualified electrician.
Are the lamps adjustable?
Yes — cable lengths are adjustable using a standard strain relief system with a locking screw mechanism.
If you require longer cables for higher ceilings or staircases, please let us know in advance and we will prepare them at no extra cost.
Shortening during installation is also possible.
Installation requirements
All lighting fixtures must be installed by a qualified and licensed electrician in accordance with local electrical regulations.
It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure that the ceiling and mounting points are structurally capable of supporting the fixture.
Additional note on glass craftsmanship
As each piece is hand-blown glass, slight variations in shape, size, and bubbles are natural and part of the material character. These are not considered defects but a feature of handmade production.
